Our Back Story

​

The Ilfracombe & District Tourism Association was formed in the late 1980s combining the Ilfracombe & District Hotel & Catering Association and the Ilfracombe Publicity Association. This new group took over the running of the Tourist Information Centre and the production of the Ilfracombe Guide, which continued until 2015.

 

In 2022 the Association was renamed Ilfracombe & District Business & Tourism Association.

 

We still help and support the Tourist Information Centre and actively promote Ilfracombe and North Devon via our very successful website Visit Ilfracombe and our various social media. 

 

​Members are from various local businesses including accommodation, restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions to small local businesses and shops. We offer a support network, with regular emails and a quarterly newsletter with a variety of social and informative events being held in the low season, where you can meet other members and have fun days/evenings out.

​Membership fees help towards the regular annual donations that we make to various Ilfracombe groups plus we include a Tourism Project Fund fee that goes towards specific capital tourism projects.

​

Most of the current management team are active in the towns business or tourism sectors.  If you would like to get more involved and contribute to the running of the Association and help promote our lovely town, you are always welcome to come along to a meeting to see what we are all about.
